Dear Woodridge Elementary Families,
As the newly appointed principal at Woodridge Elementary School, it is my pleasure and honor to join you in continuing the rich history of academic excellence that this school has been known for in the district. I am truly honored for this opportunity and look forward to working with the dedicated staff and parents to provide the best possible educational program for our students.
Along with being an instructional leader, I have always invested in education and believe that a person never stops learning. I graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, CA, completed a B.A. in Elementary Education from Tuskegee University, an M.A. in Educational Leadership at Capella University.
For the last 16 ½ years, I have worked in public education at the classroom level, school leadership level, and district level on behalf of children and families. That work has consisted of ten years as a 4th -6th grade teacher in San Diego, Clark, and DeKalb counties, two and a half years as district and local Title I Instructional Coach, and four years as an assistant principal with Dekalb County School District. Additionally, I worked as a DeKalb TAPP Faculty instructor for three years teaching the Curriculum Mapping: Planning for Instruction Course. I have also served on district math curriculum teams in San Diego and DeKalb where I created and revised math units.
I am really looking forward to our collaborative efforts, as we strive to take Woodridge to the next level to increase student achievement, parental participation, and community involvement. Working alongside the educators and community members, I will strive every day to provide the best possible education for each student who attends our school. I will work to promote a positive school culture and safe learning environment each day. My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in, call or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas. Enjoy the remainder of your summer break and I will see you all soon!
